Craft Show Display Ideas

I've been thinking of showing my art at craft shows lately.  When I started looking into it, I saw that I had missed the deadlines for applying to the Spring shows.  I didn't realize how far in advance you have to apply.  But my friend convinced me to apply any way and at least get on some mailing lists.  I was accepted to 2 shows and started to panic when I realized how much I have to do to get ready!!  I have no idea how my art will do at a craft show, but I'm jumping in with both feet.

I looked around on Pinterest for some Craft Show display ideas and found some really cute things.  I don't have the budget or time to implement all of them, but it's a great source of inspiration.

Now I have to get back to making product!  Lots of it :)

Valentine's Day Aftermath

So much for the New Year's resolution about eating healthier!
We went a little crazy with the chocolate and candy this weekend :)

Valentine's For Kids - Bear Hugs & Kisses - Teddy Grahams

I found this really cute and easy Valentine's idea for the kids in my daughter's class on the Disney Spoonful site.  It originally called for Teddy Grahams and red Gummy Bears, but I switched the gummy bears for Hershey's Kisses.  I thought the gummy bears would get all crumby from the teddy grahams.  Plus, if I had left overs, I'd rather eat chocolate!

What you'll need:

Teddy Grahams
Hershey's Kisses
Card Stock
Hole Punch
Ribbon
Heart Stickers
Small Plastic Bags

Just fill a small plastic bag (from the candy isle at Michael's Craft Store) with a scoop of Teddy Grahams and 2 Hershey's Kisses.

Cut some card stock.  I cut mine about 2 in tall and 3 in wide.  Use a hole punch to make a hole.    Then write your message and place your heart sticker.  Tie the tag on with ribbon.

These went pretty quickly considering we had to make 28 of them. Plus a couple extra for the teacher and Uncle and Grandma :)

Have a Happy Valentine's Day!

Etiquette Series

I'm starting a new series about etiquette.  I feel that I need to review my Emily Post book.  I'm afraid my manners have slipped a bit, as life becomes more and more crazy.  My dining table gets full of mail, school work, coupons etc.  Then we end up eating dinner on the sofa, with plates in our laps and watching tv.  I'm not setting a good example for my young daughter!  So I will dust off my old books on manners and share a little snippet with you all, every now and then.Untitled #44
"The real test of perfect table manners is never to offend the sensibilities of others." - Emily Post, Etiquette

This next quote from Manners by Kate Spade is especially applicable to me.

"The dining table is intended for china, glassware, utensils, and linens.  Key chains, lipstick, the mail, and children's toys are best placed elsewhere at mealtime."

Drinking Beverages At The Table - In drinking any beverage at table, a sip is never taken until the mouth is empty and has been wiped with the napkin.  This keeps cup and glass rims free from food marks.
- Amy Vanderbilt's Complete Book of Etiquette

Dining Dos and Dont's...
* Do try a little of everything served to you unless you know you are allergic to it.
*Don't overload your plate.
